Ministry of Labour and Social Protection no longer exists

The Office was completely reorganized, some of the powers were transferred to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance. 

Islam Karimov signed a resolution "On measures to further improve the system of social support and medical and social assistance to vulnerable segments of population."

According to this document the issues of social protection were transferred to Health and Finance ministries.

Provision of medical and social assistance to the disabled, including disabled children, war veterans, veterans, single elderly and other vulnerable groups, as well as the organization of vocational training of persons with disabilities and the inclusive development of vocational education was transferred to the Ministry of Health.

The nursing homes "Muruvvat " and " Sahovat" for the disabled and the elderly, the National Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics  of the Disabled, regional rehabilitation centers for the disabled, resorts for war and labour veterans, Republican Specialized Vocational Colleges for persons with disabilities in Tashkent and Fergana, as well as law school №2 in the capital fall under the management of the Ministry of Health.

Monitoring of the appointment and payment of social benefits and material assistance to needy families and individuals is now managed by the Ministry of Finance.

Ministry of Labour will continue to analyze the level of employment and monitor the quality of the performace of the employment program.

In addition, the agency will be responsible for providing jobs, vocational training and retraining of the unemployed, especially youth, women and the disabled. In addition, the Ministry is entrusted control over the guarantee of labour rights, observance of occupational safety and employment legislation.
