Japan earmarks $551,100 for social projects in Uzbekistan

Japan has marked over half a million dollars for one-year health and education projects in Uzbekistan, as part of its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects.

The 8 projects signed in Tashkent on 7 March and worth over $551,100 include:
1. Supply of Medical Equipment to Tashkent Regional Cancer Early Treatment Center ($96,792);
2. Supply of Medical Equipment to Tashkent Children’s Clinical Hospital no.3 ($104,450);
3. Supply of Medical Equipment to Namangan Region Cancer Centre ($100,000);
4. Supply of School Equipment to School no.40 in Akdarya district of Samarkand Region ($34,511);
5. Supply of School Equipment to Preschool Educational Institution no.2 of Karauzyak district of Karakalpakstan ($37,873);’
6. Supply of School Equipment to Secondary School no.8 of Karauzyak district of Karakalpakstan ($49,665);
7. Supply of School Equipment to Djizaak’s Specialised Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children ($46,628);
8. Supply of School Equipment to Specialised Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children of Shurchin district in Surkhandarya Region ($81,212).
Since 1995, Uzbekistan saw through 363 NGO-directed projects with a total worth of well over $26m.
