Fight against alcohol and tobacco advertising in social networks

The State Committee for privatization, demonopolization and development of competition identified a number of cases of advertising of alcoholic beverages, as well as promoting the use of alcohol and tobacco products by public catering enterprises in the social networks, writes the "Truth of the East". 

In the course of monitoring social networks of businesses catering companies, cases of advertising of alcoholic beverages, as well as promoting the use of alcohol and tobacco (shisha) were identified. 

The Committee found a number of offers by companies to buy 1 beverage and get one free, as well as the placement of various adverts for consumption of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, including hookah. 

As noted in the article, the Committee sent warnigs to the catering companies, manufacturers and suppliers of alcohol and tobacco products in order to terminate such ads.

As a result of violations, they filed a case against these organizations, the companies received orders to prevent violations of the law on advertising, while their officials faced administrative penalties. 

Under current law, any, even hidden advertising of tobacco, alcoholic beverages and spirits is banned in Uzbekistan.
