Electricity and gas: Legislation replenished with new norms to improve the effectiveness of the fight against debtors

The enforcement office of the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan, which is carrying out measures to collect debts for electricity and natural gas, has obtained the right to operatively search activity.

The head of the republic signed amendments to the law "On Operational Activities", according to which consumers of electric and gas networks can be disconnected in case of late payment for services, and also be put on the wanted list.

Corresponding amendments were signed by the president of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The law on amendments was adopted by the legislative (lower) chamber in late September, approved by the Senate (upper chamber) of the Uzbek parliament in early October and entered into force on the day of its official publication.

In accordance with the amendments to the law "On Operative-Investigative Activities", the bureau is included in the list of state bodies that carry out these actions. According to the law, operative-search activity is prohibited to be carried out in the interests of any legal or physical person, political party, religious or other non-governmental non-profit organization.

This provision will improve the efficiency of the Bureau in reducing arrears for energy resources.
