South Korea’s LG CNS intends to create a national e-library system in Uzbekistan.
The agreement was signed by the Uzbekistan Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Khurshid Mirzakhidov and LG CNS Managing Director Park Jin-koog.
"The cost of the agreement amounts to 13.5 billion won ($12.09 million). The project is to build a digital control system for the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan. LG CNS will establish a multimedia center, a digitization center, electronic library system and integrated library database,” reported the South Korean company.
Upon the completion of the project, the stock of 20 national libraries in Uzbekistan will also be digitized and integrated into the system for the convenient use.
As noted by LG CNS Executive Director Lee Cheol, the South Korean side will share advanced information technologies with Uzbekistan under the project.
"The company intends to expand its activities in Uzbekistan through the projects on building the e-government foundations, the ICT-based educational system, the national data center and the new passenger terminal at the Tashkent airport," he stressed.
