For several years the Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion applies the high technology treatment of acute leukemia diseases by the protocols ‘Moscow-Berlin.’ According to these regulations, the purpose of treatment requires a specific definition of a gene mutation which led to the development of the disease. Until recently, such diagnosis was not made in Uzbekistan, and the patients had to seek the help of foreign doctors, which was expensive and inconvenient, and most importantly, took the time needed for treatment.
However, the development of the Department of Molecular Medicine and Cell Technologies of the Institute contributed to the introduction of modern technologies, which allow to carry out all the necessary tests in Tashkent. Recently, the technologies have been introduced to the use of medical biochips, which are several times accelerated to obtain the necessary results.
“With the help of this technology we can within two days to check the presence of mutations in ten genes. For comparison: the equipment we used previously took two days to test one gene,” explained the head of the Department of Molecular Medicine and Cell Technologies of the Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Hamid Karimov. “This means that we can quickly establish an accurate diagnosis and prescribe treatment. You know, in these serious diseases every minute is precious. And most importantly, all procedures are now conducted on the basis of our center.”
In the future, specialists of the Institute intend to introduce very-high and operational methods of diagnosis using medical biochips to diagnose other diseases.
