‘Umid Nihollari 2015’ Finals Gets Started

Today the final round of the Sport Games ‘Umid Nihollari’ gets started. The press office of the Ministry of Public Education informs the competition is organized in the new format.

More than 4 million children from all over the country took part in the qualifying stages of the republican sports games among schoolchildren ‘Umid Nihollari.’

The increase in the number of participants this year contributed to the revision of the program. Now, along with basketball, volleyball, handball, football, swimming, table tennis, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, athletics and chess there will be organized the competitions in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, taekwondo, judo, boxing, weightlifting, and badminton.

“Traditionally the program of ‘Umid Nihollari’ consisted of the sports included in the curriculum for physical education. However, in recent years the country has been actively developing youth schools, which train other sports. Single combats become particularly popular. To support them, it was decided to expand the program,” said the deputy head of the main department for Children’s Sports Development at the Ministry of Public Education, Isomiddin Pulatov.

The most dramatic news is linked to the conduct of the final games. Winners of regional rounds will be awarded as the winners of ‘Umid Niholari’ Games. Thus, this year 1,792 schoolchildren will get high awards of the games.

Awarding ceremonies will be held within the Republican Festival ‘Festival of Youth and Sports’, events of which will take place in each region. Yesterday, it was held in Bukhara and Surkhandarya regions, as well as Tashkent, today is held in Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Navoi, and Namangan regions, as well as Karakalpakstan, May 28 – in Andijan, Samarkand and Sirdarya regions, May 29 – in Ferghana region, and May 30 - in Tashkent and Khorezm regions.
