According to the results of the critical analysis of the activities of academic lyceums, the President of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution "On measures to further improve the activities of educational institutions of secondary specialized, professional education."
To date, the country has 144 academic lyceums, the main task of which is the in-depth preparation of students for admission to universities. However, the analysis of their activities in the academic lyceums of the republic from the point of view of the perspective development of the regions taking into account the territorial, demographic, economic and other social factors shows that the work of the lyceums in professional orientation of graduates in the choice of higher educational institutions is unsatisfactory. Therefore, it was decided to abolish 4 and transform 54 colleges into academic colleges.
Lyceums with material-technical and educational-methodological bases that do not meet modern requirements will be abolished. Educational institutions located far from higher educational institutions and having low rates of graduates entering universities will be transformed.
