The plan of building a new campus at Tashkent Architecture and Construction Institute was abandoned in favor of a complete renovation of existing buildings.
Back in 2011, when "The program of modernization of material-technical base of higher educational institutions and radical improvement of the quality of training for 2011-2016 years" was developed, Tashkent Architecture and Construction Institute examined two options. One of them involved the construction of a new campus for the Institute.
Before 2016 academic year only student dormitories of the university were reconstructed and refurbised, within the framework of the program. There was hope that the decision will be made in favor of the construction of the new campus.
However, this year, at the final stage of implementation of the program, the decision was made against it. Officials decided to limit the program to renovating all three educational buildings of the institute. For these purposes the Fund for the Development of material and technical base of higher educational institutions allocated 16.9 billion soums.
“The reconstruction project is also not a bad option for our institute,” said the chief engineer of the Tashkent Architecture and Construction Institute, Asatulla Irgashev. “It involves a significant improvement in the layout of the main and second academic buildings, and the building of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. This decision is based on the need to create educational laboratories and modern auditoriums with modern equipment, as well as the need for improvement of adjacent territories. The furniture will also be updated.”
