Tomorrow the country’s higher education institutions begin examinations for the Master’s Degree courses, which complete 10 August. In total, five thousand graduates of Bachelor’s Degree courses will become students of the second stage of higher education.
In recent years, in the process of transition to a single-stage system of training of highly qualified personnel the Master’s Degree has strengthened its importance in meeting the country’s needs in the scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel.
To date, all the 58 universities of the country and their regional affiliates have Master’s Degree courses.
This year, the average competition among the applicants to the Master’s Degree has made 2-3 persons per place.
On admission to the Master’s Degree applicants take examinations on specialization subject, which determines the level of knowledge in the specialty. A compulsory examination is the theory and practice of building a democratic society. The overall ranking and the rate of progress in the Bachelor’s Degree courses are also taken into account.
From the academic year 2016-2017, new specialties are introduced. Most of them – 11, at the Tashkent State Technical University, which is associated with the reorganization of the university and increased targeted training based on the new directions of development of the industry. Three new specialties are connected with the development of metallurgy, in accordance of which the university will now train specialists in ‘rolling production of ferrous and non-ferrous metals’, ‘metal forming’ and ‘machine tools and instruments.’ Another specialties are also introduced, including ‘alternative energy’, ‘energy audit and energy saving technologies’, ‘mechatronics and robotics’, ‘intelligent engineering systems’, ‘technology, machinery and equipment of electrical industry’, ‘electrical equipment manufacturing technology’, ‘laser technology and optoelectronics’, ‘LED technology.’
Creation of the Republican Training-Scientific Center of Nutrition and the implementation of a set of measures to develop nutrition turned the basis for the introduction of a new specialty in the Tashkent Medical Academy. Future nutritionists will be actively engaged in food issues, prevention and treatment of diseases caused by diets.
And another new specialty is introduced in the Tashkent University of Information Technologies. Specialists for the development of e-commerce will be trained here. Online shops, cashless payment system for buying goods and services have proven themselves as a means capable of making life more convenient and comfortable, and now more specialists are in demand, who will be engaged in their development.
