In the last 24 years, Uzbekistan by 40 times has increased the number of schoolchildren participating in international music festivals and competitions.
Earlier, students of the Uspensky and Glier Republican Specialized Music Academic Lyceums are mainly participated in the international competitions, now their ranks are joined by young people attending children’s music and art schools.
Unlike specialized academic lyceums children’s music and art schools are the institutions of supplementary education, classes in which children attend in their spare time.
“Implementation of the program aimed at the development of children’s music and art schools, which was implemented in 2009 - 2014 has opened enormous opportunities in upbringing the young generation of musicians and artists. We have been able to take our schoolchildren abroad to participate in various international competitions,” says Liliya Mayorova, deputy director of the children’s music and art school #20 of Mirzo Ulughbek district, Tashkent. “In particular, over the past six years, our schoolchildren worthily participated in the contests held in Romania, France, Turkmenistan, Italy, Azerbaijan and Austria, where they awarded the first and second places.”
At the same time the Ministry of Public Education expects that in the near future participation of students of children’s music and art schools in the international competitions will grow. This provides the regulation revised last year concerning the expenditure of funds contributed by parents as payment for tuition.
