The first book of "Alisher Navoi. Treasury of thoughts: gazels, rubaiyat, tuyugs, mesnevi" series in Russian, publication of which is confined to the 575th anniversary of the birth of the great writer and thinker, will be presented today in Tashkent. It should be noted that it is a large publication of Alisher Navoi in Uzbekistan for the last 24 years.
In his welcome speech the chairman of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan Mukhammad Ali refers to a few facts, which reflect how valuable the heritage of Alisher Navoi not only for Uzbek people is:
"... Monuments to the poet were installed in many cities around the world (in Tashkent in 1991, in Moscow in 2002, in Tokio in 2004, in Baku in 2008).
Thinking about the great poet, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in his book "High spirituality – is an invincible force" (2008) wrote about Alisher Navoi: "If we call him a saint, he would be the most saint of saints, if we call him a thinker, he would be the best thinker of thinkers, if we call him a poet, he would be the Sultan of poets -"
And this is true.
It is noteworthy that Uzbekistan celebrates the 575th anniversary of birth of its glorious son in the 25th anniversary of its independence.
His name is given to a city, the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre, a National Park, the University of Samarkand, a school, a library, streets, a subway station . . . . Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan is named after the poet.
We can confidently say that every tenth newborn citizen of Uzbekistan is named Alisher after the poet."
Collections of works of Alisher Navoi are published today in many countries around the world, and translated into different languages. Navoi critics have been continuing hard work on study of the great heritage of the poet, which will join a publications library of his works one day.
