Tashkent is hosting the third Republican Review Theater Festival ‘Singing of You, the Contemporary.’ Theater troupes from different parts of the country participate in the festival. The jury evaluates eleven performances.
The festival was opened with the production ‘Burch’ (Duty) of the Bukhara Regional Theater of Musical Drama, which tells the story of strict officer of border troops.
The participants say that the time itself tells what of the kind should be the contemporary.
Theater, on the stages of which the best human qualities get praised presented a variety of images of the contemporary hero. The Khodjaev Syrdarya Regional Theater of Musical Drama presented a self-taught chess player Tangriberdi, who in his example encourages the audience to follow their dreams and do not give in to difficulties. In the play ‘You Awakens the Sun’ by the Bobur Andijan Regional Theater of Musical Drama and Comedy the main character is a villager Shabnam. Overcoming difficulties, she becomes an entrepreneur and opens a carpet mill.
The festival program also includes two out-of-contest productions, ‘First Love of Khoja Nasriddin’ by the Youth Theater of Uzbekistan, and ‘Brothers’ by the Samarkand Regional Theater of Musical Drama.
The festival winner will be announced on 12June at 10 AM at the closing ceremony in the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater.
