His concerts will be held at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan on April 1-2.
The organizers and program of the concerts are different. The first day is organized by the Embassy of France in Uzbekistan, the second day – by the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan. The programs consist mainly of works of the French composers: Charles Tournemire, César Franck, Olivier Messiaen, Maurice Duruflé, Louis Vierne, Thierry Escaich. Improvisation of Olivier Latri will be performed at the each concert.
Olivier Latri – is a famous French musician, organist of Notre-Dame de Paris, professor of the Paris conservatory, emeritus soloist of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. He leads a rich concert life, acts in prestigious halls and at famous festivals, plays accompanied by the world's leading orchestras.
He performed at the opening of new organs in the concert halls of the Verizon Hall (Philadelphia), the Palace of Arts in Budapest, Musikverein in Vienna, and Royal Festival Hall in London. In 2014 he performed a series of solo concerts on the new organ at the Maison symphonique hall in Montreal.
The musician aims to cover organ music of different schools and epochs in his repertoire. He is especially famous in improvisation that allowed critics to compare Latri with the outstanding musicians of the past - Charles Tournemire and Pierre Cochereau. Playing of the young O. Latri has been praised by the outstanding composer of the twentieth century, Olivier Messiaen, who called him "the new Marcel Dupré." In 2000, in memory of the composer, Latri held a unique series of concerts having performed all the organ works of Messiaen in the main cathedrals of Paris, London, and New York. The performances were followed by recording of all Messiaen’s works made of Deutsche Grammohpone label.
Discography of the organist also includes works of Bach, Mozart, Franck, Widor, Vierne, Litaize, Duruflé (complete works), Poulenc, and Barber. The most recent album, "Three Centuries of organ at Notre-Dame de Paris", includes music of the organists and composers worked at Notre-Dame de Paris at various times.
In recognition of outstanding performing and teaching activities Olivier Latri has got many prestigious awards and titles including Prix de la Fondation Cino et Simone Del Duca of the French Institute - Academy of Fine Arts (2000); honorary degree of Doctor of Music at several schools of Great Britain: Northern School of Music, Midlands school and the Royal College of Organists. He was presented to "International Artist 2009" award by the American Guild of Organists in New York, received honorary degree of Doctor of Music at McGill University in Montreal (2010).
