The Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan has held presentation of the first book of a multivolume collection ‘Pearls of World Literature.’
The publication includes the masterpieces of world literature classics Jean-Baptiste Poquelin Moliere, Jean de La Fontaine, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Honore de Balzac, Kobo Abe. In addition to the Uzbek version of the works the book also has the chronology of the life and work of world-famous writers and thinkers, and aphorisms about the importance of literature. Translations into Uzbek were made by masters of literature the poet Oybek, the writer Omon Mukhtor, the journalist and translator Erkin Ernazarov, and others. Representatives of the author group pointed out that all translations had been made directly from the original.
“The purpose of this multivolume edition is to put together the masterpieces of world literature that is convenient and very informative. Creating a book the authors group were guided by the fact that it would be included in the collection of this series and would join the library of every family,” noted the People’s Writer of Uzbekistan Muhammad Ali.
The author of the translation of The Human Comedy, Professor M. Holbekov, said that in the process of working on this book, there was created the translation laboratory, which continues the tradition of mentoring and involving young and talented translators.
