In the next two years, a bookstore will be opened in each district of the country.
The project is run by Uzbek Agency for Press and Information, Educational Complex "Kitob Olami", together with administrations of regions and Tashkent, the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan.
At present, most areas and even some regional centers do not have their own bookstores. Residents have to travel to the capital for books.
The project will be implemented in two phases. This year, bookstores will be created in all regional centers, and by the end of 2017 - in all district centers.
New network of bookshops will have mostly fiction books in the collection, published by domestic publishing houses. Among the books are the best examples of the works of both Uzbek and foreign literature.
