The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan held
a video-conference meeting on building production of building materials and ensuring price stability on them.
The main focus of the event was the consideration of measures to ensure the implementation of the protocol of the video-conference meeting chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on June 5, 2018.
At a meeting conducted by the Prosecutor General O. Murodov, it was noted that, as the head of our state criticized, there is an unjustified rise in prices for construction materials and there is no clear picture of the real need for them.
The meeting emphasized the relevance and strategic importance of expanding the production of building materials and establishing sustainable prices, taking into account the construction of Tashkent city and Samarkand city modern business centers, Nurafshon city, Tashkent international airport, Tashkent ring road, Yunusabad metro line, dozens of overpasses, standard and service housing, houses for low-income families in Tashkent and other cities.
The erection of these and other objects requires the production and saturation of the domestic market with a large number of building materials. However, in recent times, the sharp demand for construction materials, incomplete use of production capacities by local producers, an increase in gas and electricity tariffs necessary for the production of building materials, and a number of other reasons have led to an increase in prices in the construction market.
For example, in May this year, prices for building materials compared to December 2017, increased by 15.6 percent in the republic, compared to the same period of last year - by 26.3 percent.
Their production capacities are not fully used 5145 of 7316, i.e. 70 percent of total number of business entities producing construction materials.
The meeting criticized some of the shortcomings that caused the negative situations that arose on the domestic market of building materials, heard explanations of the heads of relevant government agencies, departments and organizations.
At the end of the meeting, the necessary measures were outlined with the participation of the responsible employees of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of relevant ministries and departments, deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, deputy hokims of the regions and the city of Tashkent, regional prosecutors and heads of regional divisions and departments.
In particular, concrete actions will be taken to increase the production of construction materials in our country and ensure price stability for the most important types of building materials (cement, burnt bricks, glass, planking, rolled metal products, etc.), eliminate the causes and conditions that led to higher prices for construction goods.
