Uzbekistan no longer plans to purchase trains abroad for the operating, as well as under construction, above-ground ring metro, Sputnik reports.
"Our main task is to create our own modern production base for the repair and construction of trains. To do this, our employees visit the largest similar industrial clusters in other countries, for example, “Metrovagonmash” in Mytishchi or production facilities in St. Petersburg. Uzbek specialists study technology, production processes, and on this basis are preparing to launch a full-fledged production of cars in the capital," chief engineer of the “Toshkent metropoliteni” UE Bakhtiyar Sadykov told Sputnik.
It should be noted that for today in park of the Moscow metro there are about
200 wagons. Their average age is 25.5 years.
In general, in the near future, it is planned to completely update the entire rolling stock by building new and radical modernization of existing trains. As a result, the service life of modernized wagons will last for another 15 years.
The first attempts to build cars for the metro have already been undertaken at the Tashkent plant for the construction and repair of passenger cars. A new line-up was launched, which was named "underground Afrosiab" among the people and received a unique interior and exterior design. Inside these cars, a new color scheme is used - orange, white and gray. So, for example, the usual gray metal handrails became bright orange.
In March 2000, the depot for the repair of rolling stock and the production of spare parts was also put into operation in the capital. Annually 48 wagons are overhauled here, including 12 wagons undergoing major overhaul and 36 wagons - lifting. In addition, a prophylactic inspection and repair of own technological equipment is carried out.
Along with this, repair of traction motors and motor-compressors has been implemented, and complete survey and wheel pairs (50-60 pairs per year) are made.
