Uzbekistan intends to become the leader in the rating of coal-mining countries

Specialists of the Chinese company China Railway Tunnel Group have launched an investment project to modernize Shargunkumir JSC's enterprises in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of Uzbekistan Temir Yullari JSC.

The investment project “Modernization of "Shargunkumir" JSC” provides for bringing the designed capacity of the company up to 900 thousand tons of coal per year.

Within the framework of the project, the task is to clean up the old 10 mines with a total length of 1,500 m, carry out works to drill 2,227 m of the tunnel for the extraction of additional volumes of coal.

The total cost of the project is $ 105.5 million. The completion of the preparatory and improvement works, as well as the beginning of coal mining is planned in the first quarter of 2020.

New technologies will be introduced, in particular, the most advanced high-efficiency coal mining equipment is imported.

It is planned to lay a new railway with a length of 20 km. At the same time, existing highways will be reconstructed.

Shargun is the richest deposit in terms of coal reserves: its volume is estimated at more than 33 million tons of raw materials. This is the richest deposit in Uzbekistan. It is for him to become the locomotive of the country's withdrawal to a new place in the rating of the coal-mining countries of the world.

The "Uzbekugol" and "Shargunkumir" companies by the decree of the president were transferred to the balance of "Uzbekistan Temir Yullari" in November last year. The purpose of this transfer is just to bring the coal industry to a new level.
