According to JSC Uzbekenergo, the consortium won the international tender for the project ‘Construction of two combined cycle power plants (CCPP) with 230-280 MW capability at Takhiatash TPP’, offering a price of $ 457 million. The tender announced in December 2015 got involved 10 contenders from China, South Korea and Turkey.
The winner will carry out the construction of two combined cycle power plants with 250-280 MW capability, which will replace the old units. The term is 2.5 years. The contract will be signed before the end of this December.
Funding of the project worth $ 678.2 million will be implemented by the Asian Development Bank loan of $ 300 million, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan of $ 230.7 million, and won funds of the Uzbekenergo.
The capacity of Takhiatash TPP is 730 MW. The first unit was commissioned in 1956, the last (fifth) - in 1967. The power plant provides electricity to the north-west of the republic - the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region.
