Until 2025, Uzbekistan intends to join the list of 20 leading countries in the Doing Business report

“Uzbekistan intends to become one of the 20 leading countries by 2025 within the framework of the Doing Business report”, Azim Ahmedhodjaev, chairman of the State Committee for Investments, said today.

According to him, for this purpose the republic should, first of all, finalize the investment policy. The Investment Code will be of particular importance in this direction.

"We are conducting a significant review of our legislative framework to attract foreign investment. At the moment, the project and the structure of the Investment Code have been developed. This is a consolidated legal document, which has no references to any external legal acts. The document is one-piece. We clearly understand that our further development depends on the steps that we will take today and in the near future," Ahmedhodjaev said.

The committee, he noted, is actively studying and applying foreign experience in the development of priority sectors of the economy, increasing the effectiveness of efforts to attract foreign investment, identifying new and creative ways of calibrating the actions of investors, and developing new projects and supporting their implementation.

Thanks to the comprehensive analysis, the head of the State Committee noted, measures are currently being developed to build a stable financial ecosystem in Uzbekistan that would be integrated with the international financial markets. In this context, in his opinion, the main direction is to improve the availability of corporate and financial information, to bring the financial statements of Uzbek companies to the level of international standards.

"We create and promote the brand of Uzbekistan in the international arena. It is about holding an active offensive PR campaign in a short time. We also strive to attract business leaders around the world in order to form a new image of the country. We plan to develop a long-term strategy with key indicators that will cover new legislative initiatives and practical steps," he said.
