The European Union has allocated 12 million euros for a project to improve water supply in Uzbekistan, said the head of the EU delegation to Uzbekistan Yuri Stärk.
"Within the framework of the EU Integrated Water Resources Management Project, 12 million euros has been allocated to Uzbekistan for the next four years. In general, the total amount of the support of the project can be increased to 20 million euros,” said Stärk.
The main objective of the project is to improve water supply and improve water resources management in the country. Within its framework, measures are taken to develop the institutional expertise, to improve the exchange of data and experience between organizations, to promote law-making in the water sector. The project aims to help the creation of national programs and strategies.
In addition, European experts will bring a wealth of experience in the field of water management, energy efficiency and the rational use of water resources. It is planned to implement pilot projects that will provide samples of advanced European technologies in this field.
