The proven reserves of deposits in Uzbekistan are estimated at $ 8 trillion, said the head of the main geology department of the State Committee on Geology of Uzbekistan, Azimjon Kholikov.
According to him, out of this amount, $ 1.3 trillion fall to the share of proven reserves in the years of independence. “This means that the exploration work carried out at an accelerated pace. The country possesses not yet studied types of minerals that require complex geological exploration and development, technology research,” Mr. Kholikov said.
As he stressed, the country also has significant potential for non-metallic minerals, which are widely used in industry. This group includes more than 70 kinds of minerals.
“In 2014, exploration started on all quartz-bearing ore occurrences for the production of silicon. The work is also continuing on the basaltic rocks for the production of super-thin and continuous mineral fibers,” he added.
