Kandym gas processing complex commissioned

In the Bukhara region on April 19, the ceremony of commissioning the Kandym gas processing complex took place.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the start-up ceremony of the enterprise.
It should be noted that the construction of the Kandym gas processing complex was completed 8 months ahead of schedule.
Exactly two years ago, on April 19, 2016, the ceremony of construction of the complex took place, in which President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part. About

10 thousand employees and specialists took part in the construction of the complex and its infrastructure. After putting the plant into operation more than 2 thousand jobs were created.

The enterprise, built on the basis of the Kandym group of gas condensate fields in the Karakul region, is a vivid embodiment of the Uzbek-Russian cooperation. Its capacity is calculated for the processing of 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas a year. Coming to full capacity, the complex will produce 212,000 tons of pure sulfur per year, 134,000 tons of stabilized gas condensate, and purified natural gas will be exported.

The complex includes gas production and processing systems, two gas processing plants, terminals for loading and transporting products, gas mains, engineering and energy systems. The gas comes from 114 wells connected to two gas gathering points.
In addition, within the framework of the project in a remote steppe area of the Karakul District, a modern working town for 1150 inhabitants, in which  all conditions for living and recreation of workers are created. At the same time, technological and pipeline networks with a length of 500 kilometers, more than 280 kilometers of roads, a railway with a length of 50 kilometers
and 272 kilometers of power lines are laid.

The ceremony of putting the complex into operation took place in the administrative building of the enterprise. It was attended by the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov, representatives of the diplomatic corps, state and public organizations, workers and engineers of the plant, young people, representatives of domestic and foreign media.

The ceremony was addressed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The head of our state noted that the work carried out within the framework of the Strategy of Action serves the consistent development of leading industries. The active attraction of foreign direct investment in the fuel and energy sector and the Kandym gas processing complex itself are another bright embodiment of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia.
The congratulatory message of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin was read by the Minister of Energy of this country Alexander Novak.

The president of the Lukoil company Vagit Alekperov, the engineer of the Kandym gas processing complex Shahzod Kurbonov, the veteran of the oil and gas industry Komil Fozilov noted that this historic event for our country, the emergence of a complex that could be called a miracle in the desert, was made possible by the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in economic development regions, ensuring human interests.

Then the symbolic button of the complex activity launch is pressed.

The Bukhara region has a huge industrial, scientific, technical and intellectual potential, which serves as the foundation for effective use of the new complex's capabilities. The enterprise will not only become the locomotive of the regional economy, but will also fundamentally improve the system of providing the country with hydrocarbon products and expand the scale of its exports. This work continues in accordance with the decree of the head of our state "On measures to increase the production of finished export-oriented products based on deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials for 2016-2020" from September 28, 2016.

A significant contribution to the implementation of this large-scale project worth over $ 3 billion was made by the South Korean company Hyundai Engineering, which acted as a contractor. Without a doubt, the new industrial complex will become a unique object not only in Uzbekistan, but also in Central Asia as a whole.

"Today we witnessed a very important event," said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev. - I am happy to recall the day when two years ago the first stone was laid here in the foundation of this complex. This project with the participation of companies from Russia and South Korea is another stage in our long-term cooperation. The Kandym project will have a huge economic impact for Uzbekistan. After all, as President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted, it is important for Uzbekistan not only to extract but also to process raw materials profoundly, the Kandym complex will create ample opportunities for this.

"This large industrial enterprise is a vivid example of successful cooperation between Uzbekistan, Russia and South Korea," said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea in our country Kwon Yong-Woo. - The Kandym complex will allow Uzbekistan to effectively use gas and expand its exports. I think that the successfully completed project will give a powerful impetus to the participation of South Korean investors in the modernization and development of other sectors of your country.
In general, the launch of the Kandym gas processing complex started a new stage in the development of gas fields in Uzbekistan. The development of the oil and gas industry, which is one of the leading in our country, will serve the economic growth and further growth of the well-being of our people.
