In accordance with the decree, issued by the Head of State, the holding company will include 176 enterprises of food, oil, fat, meat and milk products in the form of JSC and LLC. The authorized capital of the holding company will be formed through the transfer of state shares to the statutory funds of enterprises, that were part of the abolished unions.
Private enterprises for the production of food products may voluntarily enter the structure of "Uzbekozikovkatholding" in the status of associate members.
A development fund for reconstruction and modernization of the food industry will be established. The sources for the fund come from the dividends on the state share of enterprises (50 %) belonging to the holding, as well as contributions in the amount of 0.5 % of the net profits of enterprises and organizations "Uzbekozikovkatholding".
A large-scale work to reform the food industry has been carried out during the years of independence of Uzbekistan. In 1990, our country imported more than 82 % of the total consumption of grain, 50 % of meat and meat products, about 60 % of dairy products, 100 % of sugar, powdered milk and baby foods.
Uzbekistan now supplies the population with all major types of products through the development of domestic production. Since Independence, meat consumption per capita increased 1.3 times, milk and dairy products - 1.6 times, and the consumption of processed fruit and vegetables increased almost 4 times.
There are more than 10 thousand economic entities, specialized in the production of food products in the country.
