In July 2016, a part of the old bridge, which was built in 1961, was destroyed.
The new bridge with a total length of 72.5 km will have a roadway with two-way traffic, the width of each way more than 10 meters. In addition, the both sides will have two pedestrian pavements.
Designers and builders attach great importance to the modern appearance and comprehensive strength of the bridge.
New asphalt roads of 247 km from Bukhara side and 178 km from Karshi are also built in order to connect the bridge to the existing main road.
The total estimated cost of the new bridge is more than 11.8 billion soums. Commissioning of the bridge is scheduled to the Navruz holiday.
